How long does a 10ml nic salt last?

There is no single answer, because it depends on how you vape. What decides how long a bottle lasts, and how to work out your own number.

How long does a 10ml nic salt last? For most people using a pod kit, somewhere from a couple of days to a week, but it depends heavily on how often you vape. A 10ml bottle fills a 2ml pod about five times. The quickest way to find your own number is to note how long one pod lasts and multiply by five.

What decides how long a bottle lasts

  • How many puffs you take a day. This matters more than anything else.
  • How long each puff is. Long draws use far more liquid than short ones.
  • Your device and coil. Higher-power kits and lower-resistance coils use liquid faster.
  • Your nicotine strength. On a lower strength, many people take more puffs to feel satisfied.

UK rules cap refillable pods and tanks at 2ml, which is why five refills per 10ml is a useful rule of thumb. Our refilling guide covers how full to fill.

How many puffs in a 10ml nic salt?

There is no fixed answer, because puff length varies so much. Makers do publish estimates. Bar Juice says its Bar Juice 5000 range gives up to roughly 5,000 puffs per bottle, around five disposables' worth. Treat that as the maker's claim under good conditions rather than a promise. Your own count will be higher with short puffs on a low-power kit and lower with long draws.

Puff counts printed on packaging are manufacturer estimates. We have not tested them, and real-world numbers vary from person to person.

Coming from disposables

If you used a disposable a day, a 10ml bottle in a pod kit usually works out at a few days of similar vaping, and the cost per day tends to be far lower. Prices start from around £2.39 a bottle in the ranges we cover; our cheapest nic salts guide compares them. For choosing a device to switch to, see disposable vape alternatives.

A worked example

Say one 2ml pod lasts you a day and a half. Five refills from a 10ml bottle gives about seven or eight days. At around £2.39 for a bottle of Bar Juice 5000, that is roughly 30p to 35p a day on liquid, plus a new pod every so often. Your own numbers will differ, but the method is the same: time one pod, multiply by five, then divide the bottle price by the days. Or put your daily use into our e-liquid calculator and it does the sum with current prices.

Does strength change how long it lasts?

Indirectly. A 10ml bottle holds the same volume whatever the strength, but people on a lower strength often vape more to feel satisfied, so the bottle goes faster. If you find yourself puffing constantly, the strength may be too low; our strength guide explains how to pick. You can also browse by strength, from 10mg nic salts to 20mg.

Does nic salt go off?

E-liquid can change over time. Flavour and nicotine can degrade, especially with heat and light, and the liquid may darken. Check the best-before date on the label, and store bottles capped in a cool, dark place, away from direct sunlight. Keep them out of reach of children and pets.

Buying the right amount

Once you know how many days a bottle lasts you, buying becomes simple. If a bottle lasts about a week, four or five bottles cover a month. Many stores run multi-buy deals on 10ml nic salts, so buying a few at once can lower the cost per bottle. If you like variety, a mix of flavours from one range keeps the strength and feel consistent while you try different tastes; each range review, such as Elux Legend, lists every flavour with its strengths and current stock.

If a bottle suddenly seems to vanish much faster than usual, check the pod for leaks before assuming you are vaping more. A cracked pod or a worn seal can lose liquid into the device or your pocket.

Making a bottle last longer

  1. Take shorter, gentler puffs.
  2. Use the strength that satisfies you, so you are not chain vaping.
  3. Replace worn coils; a gunked coil can make you puff harder for the same flavour.
  4. Fill only to the max line to avoid leaks and waste.

Questions readers ask

How long does a 10ml nic salt last?

Usually a couple of days to a week in a pod kit, depending on how much you vape. Time one 2ml pod and multiply by five.

How many puffs in a 10ml nic salt?

It varies with puff length and device. Bar Juice claims up to roughly 5,000 puffs for Bar Juice 5000, but treat that as an estimate.

How many pods does a 10ml bottle fill?

About five, because UK refillable pods hold no more than 2ml.

Does nic salt expire?

It can degrade over time. Check the best-before date and store it somewhere cool and dark.

Is a 10ml nic salt cheaper than disposables?

Usually, per day of vaping. Bottles start from around £2.39 in the ranges we cover.

Why is my nic salt running out so fast?

Long draws, chain vaping, a high-power device or a strength that is too low can all use liquid faster. A leaking pod is worth ruling out too.
